  • Welcome to the Home of the Barnard Bears!

    Welcome to Barnard Elementary School. It is truly an honor to serve the Barnard students, families and community. Barnard Elementary School is committed to ensuring that we provide a safe, nurturing learning environment for all children. Our passion is educating children and everything we do at Barnard is driven by our students, and is based on ensuring that your child receives a quality education.

    The teachers and staff at Barnard are committed to ensuring that our children receive a quality education in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. All children participate in PE, Music, Spanish, Art, Library and Life Skills throughout the year. We offer intensive reading services, English Language Learner (ESL) support, special education services, Response to Intervention support, among other programs and activities, to ensure support for all children. We partner with several community-based organizations that help us to bring the experiential component to learning.

      • Academic Power Hour
        With a 1:8 staff to student ratio, these creative-oriented classes focus on core competencies. Included is literacy building activities, science and math programs from the STEM curriculum and homework help.

      • Soccer/DC Scores
        DC Scores is an after-school local soccer league that incorporates public service activities and self-expression through poetry and performance

        After-school running program for pre-teen girls focusing on healthy lifestyles

      • Monthly performances and awards assembly
      • Embassy Adoption Program
        In partnership with the Washington Performing Arts, the program teams 5th and 6th grade classes with an embassy. What ensues is a year-long adventure exploring their adopted country’s geography, history, government, culture, arts and food.
